Branding means you are making your business name, logo, products, services, etc. more visible to more people. When you are using "Free" services then all of the above is for THEM more than for you. Your business or organization deserves an affordable, professional, easy to maintain Web presence and email marketing system that YOU can control, with no other branding, no unwanted pop-up ads or competitive businesses (or even worse, unknown/inappropriate entities) showing up along with your content. You should have an absolutely "safe place" to communicate with your prospective clients and grow your business.
Most professional networkers know and use this formula because they know it works well, but many "regular business" owners still don't get it. They still try to "work-around" having a professional Web presence and use only social networks. What's missing with that plan is Ownership, Brand Control and a successful Call-to-Action.
Here are the three steps to a great Communications Success Formula:
- Show Your Target Audience Something
- Get Their Questions Answered
- Sign Them Up
Show Them Something - The internet is good for that. The problem is that businesses get stuck in the "Show them something mode". They just keep posting images with no CTA Call to action or a weak call to action. What should your CTA be? To get them to your Web site of course.
Get Their Questions Answered - This can be a mixture of your network platform, your Web site and your email marketing system. Not everyone will buy what you are selling immediately...(no matter how wonderful it is); but when the timing is right people will buy from you. So when you start getting "questions" via your social network pages, that's the time to "direct" them to your Web site. Have a FAQ's page and plenty of information there to
Sign Them Up - By this time your prospective client should be totally in your system, following you on line, but not relying on your FB page to communicate with you and do business with you.
....If you are a professional network platform user, who is paying for commercial accounts on networking platforms this conversation may not be for you...but even the big companies have a Web site...and you'd better believe it.
Otherwise, if you are a "free" user, your content can be removed and your pages can disappear with no notice, explanation and no second thoughts. ( Not trying to frighten you...that's why I saved that part for last.)
